Annual Insulators Local #2 5K Walk/Run for Mesothelioma

Local Insulators 2 prides itself on the safety measures for ensuring workplace health and safety in exposure to asbestos and other hazard risks while on the job. On Sunday, October 13, 2019, Insulators Local 2 is raising awareness and promoting advocacy for Mesothelioma by inviting the community for its annual 5K walk and run at the North Park Boat House, 303 Pearce Mill Road, Allison Park, PA 15101,  from 9 a.m.- 12 p.mRegister as a team or as an individual, and help us further our commitment to battling Mesothelioma. With help of participating support, paint the world blue in mesothelioma awareness by asking friends and family to wear blue on race day. As an added bonus, walkers and runners are allowed to bring their friendly dogs along too! Be sure to represent Insulators Local 2’s initiative, and come together for a union strong event!

Our trade union chooses Mesothelioma for more funding and research because of the longstanding assumption that people who work with asbestos are the only ones who get it, but everyone is affected by it. Mesothelioma is an asbestosrelated cancer with few treatment options. It’s a tumor of the tissue that lines the lungs, stomach, heart, and other organs and affects the victim, family, friends and community. The ongoing, severe disease needs to be counteracted with support by everyone, and with your help, Insulators Local 2 can make great strides in the fight against this cancer!

With the ongoing support, local schools are raising their best efforts through sponsorships of pledge forms (download form). With Each pledge form, schools are challenging others to raise money for the funding and advocacy against Mesothelioma. Olivia Syler, Baldwin student, is one step ahead in raising awareness and is asking other people, like you, to join the Insulator Local 2’s friends and family in a friendly competition of who can raise the most money! Do you think you can beat Olivia and her friends?

Register today, and see who beats each other in the race against Mesothelioma fundraising! Also remember, the group that raises the highest amount of pledge money wins a visit from Kona Ice. See you at the start line!
