#Local2Together Throwback Post: Our Local 2 Picnic!

As we enter the dog days of summer, we can’t help but reminisce on the good times and summer days of Local 2 together. Though the picnic may be cancelled this year, we can’t help but be thankful for year’s past.

Last year, family and friends gathered for a good old-fashioned Founder’s Day picnic where summer traditions commenced and loved ones gathered. Local 2 members grilled, played games and socialized at The Mayernik Center in Avonworth Community Park. Members played cornhole, horseshoe, and bingo as kids received face paintings, partook in fun-filled crafts, played in the petting zoo, and splashed in the water at the community pool. Local 2 members worked hard throughout the year to play hard with their most loved ones and professional colleagues.

Since 1904, Insulators Local 2 has thrived in the United States and continues to impact the community through efforts in education and leadership by our union advocacy and apprenticeship program while preserving our local’s rich historical significance. As a union, we have experienced the hardships and tribulations that America has witnessed for over 100 years. The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic will not dim our gratitude of the memories made and the growth of our legacy. As we continue to grow towards the future, we will always remember where we came from. Perhaps where we came from was a breezy summer picnic day in 2019, and now a cancelled picnic this year, but there are always new beginnings beyond the horizon. Until we are reunited for summer’s traditions again, we will remain grateful for our memories that make us union united. As a throwback post to last year’s Founder’s Day picnic, we salute with gratitude and unite in moving forward.

In moving forward, we’d love to see how you are tackling summer, either by adventuring to parks, having picnics, or grilling with your small group of loved ones! You can share with us by tagging Insulators Local 2 on social media through our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. We’ll be sure to share it to have our very own #Local2Together virtual picnic.
